I am directed by the Postmaster General to transmit
her with, for the information of the Secretary of State.
a copy of a letter from the Postmaster General of Hong Kong, asking (a) whether arrangements may be lade for the issue to candidates examined locally of Certificates of Proficiency in Radiotelegraphy, and (b) enquiring as to the conditions applying to the training and employment of operators at
coast stations in this country.
The Postmaster General sees no objection to examinations
being conducted and certificates being issued by the Government of Hong Kong as in the cass of the Falkland Islands (Colonial Office letter No.21266/1916, or the
19th May last refers); and, if the Secretary of State concurs. the Colonial Postmaster General will be informed accordingly and supplied with the necessary particulars, together with copies of the annexed memoranda concerning the training and employment of wireless operators at the Post Office coast
stations.
